Welcome to The Open
College of Equine Studies

TOCES During Covid-19 Lockdown

The Open College of Equine Studies (TOCES) is fully open and operational with our great team all working safely from home.  We are accepting enrolments and still processing student assignments.  Enrolments can be made in the usual way (directions on each course page).  The best method of contacting us during lockdown is by email: info@equinestudies.co.uk

Study Weeks During Lockdown

We have deferred face-to-face attended study weeks until it is safe and permitted to hold them again.  In the meantime study weeks are being delivered remotely using BigBlueButton, a great interactive and easy to use online delivery platform.   So although our syllabus scheduling has had to change, we are ensuring no delivery is missed.

If the course you are interested in has study weeks, you can enrol now to get a head start with the theoretical content.

The Open College of Equine Studies (TOCES) offers distance and blended learning courses covering a range of equine subjects including health care and management, nutrition, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, reproduction, behavioural science, veterinary nursing and physiotherapy, with courses starting at a basic level for those who are new to horses, through to degree level higher education programmes.

Wherever you are in the world, whatever your equine experience and aspirations, we have a course for you.

TOCES and the BGA join forces.

We are delighted to announce a new relationship with the British Grooms Association (BGA).

As the professional body for people who work with horses, BGA members receive careers advice and training opportunities, so working with TOCES, the leading equine distance learning college, is a natural and positive step.  TOCES’ on-line learning format provides flexibility for the busy horse professional who can fit in study at times to suit them.

As well as skilled practical training, e-learning tutor support is provided by encouraging, qualified industry professionals who are there to give guidance and constructive feedback.

The informed care of the horse is something TOCES, the BGA and its members are passionate about.

Lucy Katan, Executive Director of the BGA said “Our joint goal is for everyone who works with horses to be practical and knowledgeable professionals. This is made possible through implementing best practice, thereby promoting the health and welfare of horses in their care, their own safety and their value as employees. We are delighted to be working together to progress this aim with TOCES.”

Discounts on TOCES’ BHS Horse Care Stages and specialist equine short courses are available to BGA members who provide their membership details for verification by the BGA office.
